We have developed the following 5 point rating system to provide us with an evaluation standard. But there are variations on how these are made, and sometimes an improvement just won't fit in an evaluation system.
.5 point for fruit garnish -- fruit garnish included (cherries, sometimes an orange)
.5 point for cherry juice or grenadine -- cherry juice or grenadine is added (drink is slightly red)
1 point for muddling -- fruit (orange and maraschino) cherry is muddled usually with sugar
1 point bitters -- bitters are not too strong
1 point brandy -- can taste the brandy, but it does not overpower
1 point for overall taste-- tastes good overall (this can be a bonus category)
-.5 point if served with olives without being asked
